And as a result, many of them take to the company’s site to share their thoughts on various products and rate them out of five stars.
Here, FEMAIL looks at the five top-rated skincare products on the site and why they’ve won so many fans.
1. EVE LOM CLEANSER :
Although a 200mL tub will set you back $159, the glowing testimonials about this cleanser speak for themselves with 347 five-star reviews and 47 four-star reviews.
Described by Vogue UK as ‘probably the best cleanser in the world’, it’s at the heart of any premium skincare regime.
‘The signature blend of ingredients ensures your skin will achieve optimal results in no time at all,’ the product description reads.
‘Clove oil acts to encourage clear skin and take out redness, eucalyptus oil works to drain away toxins, hops oil tones, Egyptian chamomile softens and soothes and cocoa butter conditions.’
The method of application is treated as an experience as well, with customers advised to immerse the muslin cloth in hot water, hold the cloth above their face for a few seconds before rubbing it across the face in circles.
‘I have used this cleanser for 3 months now and it has made a drastic difference to my skin! I tried going back to finish off my old cleanser for 5 days and developed little pimples on my face. Switched back to Eve Lom and within 3 days back to clear skin,’ a customer wrote.
The downside: ‘I used this product for many months as I thought it would help my combination/oily skin. It thoroughly cleaned makeup off my face however I also felt like it left a thin coating on my skin after use. I felt that this product caused my skin to breakout,’ one customer wrote. 2. MARIO BADESCU DRYING LOTION :
Since Kylie Jenner came out and praised this as her go-to acne clearing product, it has been flying off the shelves.
And it’s not just the celebrity endorsement that has seen its popularity skyrocket, with the $24 lotion receiving 410 five-star reviews and 188 four-star reviews.
The Drying Lotion is made with a blend of calamine and salicylic acid to clear up and soothe unsightly whiteheads overnight and promises to ‘heal and dry’ pimples quickly.
‘I have been using this product for over a year and I could never go without it. I don’t have bad acne but I will get the occasional pimple. I use a cotton bud to apply the product directly to my pimple and leave it overnight, by morning the pimple is reduced in size and less red,’ one customer wrote.
The downside: ‘It made zero improvement to my skin unfortunately but my skin doesn’t usually respond well to non-prescription acne/pimple products so it may work for others,’ a customer wrote.
3. MECCA COSMETICA LIP DE-LUSCIOUS SPF 25+ :
This affordable $28 lip conditioner has 206 five-star reviews and 41 four-star reviews.
The Lip de-Luscious SPF 25 Lip Protectant ‘hydrates and conditions lips with a botanical-rich, lip-loving formula’ and ‘contains shea butter, hyaluronic filling spheres, pomegranate seed oil, vitamin E and SPF 25 for beautifully soft, SPF protected lips’.
‘I just received this in the mail and wow this is honestly one of the best lip balms I have had my hands on. It has a nice sweet scent (smells like marshmallows) along with a soft hint of pink, perfect for everyday use,’ a customer wrote.
The downside: ‘The jar looks so luxurious but once the product is applied, I always end up feeling disappointed. It sits on top of my lips, refuses to sink in and slides around so much,’ one customer wrote.
